Some changes have happened around here for the better. The past few months have been used to learn the new game engine and design tools that will be used to complete the Pod & Rodney Project. The Unity Engine.
So what does this mean for the project? A much faster turn around compared to before. By using a game engine we eliminate much of the tedious work that takes away from working on the actual game. There is no more worry about coding for a graphics pipeline, or having to hard code in collision objects.
Cleaner and faster producing of demos. Andrew can attest for, considering he's already received and tested a demo for me. The great thing is that with Unity we have no worries about incompatibility between systems. There are no extra files to worry about missing. Just one nice little package.
Your probably wondering where everything now stands in all this. Currently I've gotten the game to the point I had it originally using Panda3d. The difference is that as the game currently stands its much cleaner and bug-free.
Using Unity the goal is a completion by the third-quarter of 2010. By that I mean we'll be prepared to publish it.
I'll be posting a video of the game running in Unity within the week. I'm going to try and update every few days from here on out, time permitting.
If your wondering where the old posts are they are not gone. I'm moving them over to another blog for archival purposes.
